Very smooth gameplay. Graphics look fine and clear. This is just like the original FF9. Definitely worth the price.

One of my favorite FF titles!! So nostalgic!!!!

Without exaggeration this is the finest traditional rpg in existence. Gripping story, unforgettable characters—Vivi may be the greatest, if not most adorable, video game protagonist of all time—and is a masterclass in storytelling and game design. Its hilarious, heartbreaking, beautiful, and fun as hell. The 3D characters, battle environments, and animated cutscenes have all gotten a nice face-lift and feel right at home in 2016. The hand drawn backgrounds, however? They were really something to behold on our old low-resolution tvs but suffer tremendously when blown up 4x their original size to fill a Retina display. Square lazily applied some antialiasing leaving the backgrounds feeling muddy and blurry, and its jarring to see them behind such beautifully sharp 3D character models. At times it feels almost as if theyre walking on top of the world rather than being in it. Still. Dont let that dissuade you from playing—this game is a masterpiece, even by todays standards. And fortunately/unfortunately this is the best version of the game available to play (its essentially the Steam version). Aside from emulating the original psx game and constantly adjusting the settings for each different background, this is best FF9 experience that can be bad. Im looking forward to a remaster some day—or a de-mastered 16-bit version, if a guy can dream—because Ive seen the original painted backgrounds and they are stunningly detailed and deserve to be seen. But until then, its easy to throw down $20 to have this 40+hr adventure of perfection in your pocket.

Great game, but why isnt Final Fantasy 8 on here?

Most Efficiently optimized interface Ive seen for a game made into a phone application. Phenomenal story telling with compelling character development. Gameplay and experience is one youll struggle to forget. For RPG fans this is an absolute must purchase!

Get rid of the effing card game. Sorriest stupid game ever. Whoever came up with it and implemented it into the game is a tool.

Love all the final fantasy games. But wheres 8 for the iOS? I hate how theres 7 then it skips 8 and goes to 9 please add 8. Other than that you should definitely buy this. All the games are great.

I love this game. Played it as a kid and couldnt put it down. Overall: fantastic. The controls, however, are another story. I understand its a difficult port to mobile, but the dev team should have made some aspects of the game MUCH easier to compensate for that. For example, the Chocobo Hot and Cold minigame. It was already the MOST ANNOYING MINIGAME IN THE HISTORY OF MINIGAMES. And this mobile version of the game made it EVEN MORE annoying. Its very difficult to maneuver Choco with this interface. The dev team should have made it easier to find the targets in the minigame because of that.

I like the game. Very good story But its just too dang long. It keeps jumping from plot to plot. The game wont end. My god. This is tooooo loooooong Im trying not to get bored with it. But jeez.

Trying to get germinas boots in burmecia but it will only let me run. When I switch it to walk in config it still makes me run. You can kinda walk using the touch prompt if you use it really close to your character, but its the only way. Also a screen flip option would be nice. It got kinda crashy with ff7 but this game runs much smoother so it might work better. The continue feature could be better. It always saves at the last screen you were on unless you were in the middle of a scene that ends in a different location. That is SUPER helpful. The only problem is that if you save it starts you off on the screen before you saved. For example, when I get the Kupo nut from moodoon in Alexandria, then save,it starts me off before I have collected the Kupo nut or saved. If there is a save file present from before you go to the next zone it should take precedence over the quicksave. Otherwise this game is fantastic. Im still pretty mad about no ff8 yet though. I love 9 and all, but I loved 8 WAY more. Even if you fix all these things I wont give this game a 5star until FF8 comes out.

The game has been fun, but one of my favorite parts of this game is the Chicano hot or cold mini game. However, though I have somehow leveled my chocoholic to level 13 and accumulated nearly 400 points I have only found 4 chocohraphs. I dont know if it is a problem with the app or what, but I dont remember ever having an issue like this with the original.

Nothing else wrong. But it would be great if I could play more than 10 minutes without a reset.

Reliving this game is great! I like that its adapted to touch unlike FFVII. The backgrounds could use some work but it is from the ps1 era.

So glad they came out with this version. One of the best and most underrated of the series.

I cant even get past the very beginning without it crashing, I love square Enix and final fantasy is my favorite game series so for this to be happening after paying 20$ is a tragedy please reply with some kind of help , I was really excited to play this now Im just disappointed thanks Im giving it 2 stars because it FF but its not even worth one based on capability as of right now.

When I play on the world map, I get some levels, but then the app crashes due to having MB of data left. :( Maybe it would be best to play this game on the PS3, where there is more storage. Unless, Apple fixes this problem by upgrading the storage.

Im playing on an iPad 3 and it crashes about every ten minutes... But other than that, this is a great port.

I pay $21 per game that doesnt even work I cant get past the loading screen

For the money I spent on this game, I should be able to play it! I thought this game was one of the best in the franchise. I was looking forward to it, but all it does, is crash! Even when you have 40 GB of free space available, it still wont load at all! Dear Apple, I bought the iPad for reliability, not crashing. I cant help but think that your standards for programs released in the app store, has gone down. Can you do a better job of quality control?

This is my first and favorite Final Fantasy, but I love it on iOS not just for those reasons. This has been reworked for a touchscreen, graphics have been improved, Quicksave has been added, and extras have been included. This is the best version of this game and worth every penny. Im on an iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.2 and have had NO CRASHES or problems at all. The audio, controls, and menus work flawlessly for me. I imagine many of the crashing issues might be older devices with less RAM trying to run this. But if youve got an iPhone 6 or newer, youll be fine.
